It has been scientifically proven that LED face masks have an "excellent" safety profile, according to a study in the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology that was published in February 2018. A board-certified dermatologist in Raleigh-Durham, NC, Sheel Desai Solomon, MD, says these devices have been around for decades and are normally utilized by dermatologists or aestheticians in an office environment to reduce inflammation after facials, decrease breakouts and give skin an overall boost. You may now buy and use these gadgets at home. (The majority of full face masks cost between $100 and $500).”

One may have recently noticed these strange gadgets on the pages of beauty magazines and  social media pages. In October 2018, Chrissy Teigen, a supermodel and author, uploaded a picture of herself on Instagram wearing what seems to be a red LED mask (and drinking wine out of a straw). A similar shot was published by actress Kate Hudson a few years ago. When it comes to skin care, it's hard to beat the appeal of doing it while relaxing with a glass of wine or lounging in bed. Masks may save time and money, and the people feel that the therapies are successful, says Dr. Solomon. "If patients believe the masks work as effectively as an in-office therapy," he adds, "they save time and money. It's a win-win."

LED Face Masks are life saviors

The LED therapy used light and their wavelengths to get the required results. Each wavelength of light provides a distinct hue to address different skin issues. For example, red light is meant to enhance circulation and activate collagen, making it ideal for individuals who are craving that smoother and fuller look by lessening the appearances of lines and wrinkles. Previous study published in the American Journal of Pathology indicated that the loss of collagen, which is common in ageing and sun-damaged skin, may lead to wrinkles. Wearing an LED mask produces visible blue to red light. On the electromagnetic spectrum, these wavelengths are located between 400 and 700 nanometers.
